How to Use

Popular Alternate Tunings for Folk Guitar

  • Drop D: Only the 6th string is tuned down from E to D. Popular in folk and fingerstyle.
  • Open G: Tuned to a G major chord. Great for folk and slide guitar.
  • DADGAD: Modal tuning popular in Celtic and folk music. Very versatile.
  • Open D: Tuned to a D major chord. Excellent for folk and slide guitar.
  • Half Step Down: All strings lowered by a half step. Easier on the fingers and voice.
